Repetition should remove hesitation
Tikrar is not about chasing a magical repetition number. The purpose is to make the wording, order and transitions increasingly stable. Some ayat need more repetition than others.
Move through three stages
A useful repetition cycle moves from support to independence.
- Look and repeat until the ayah is familiar.
- Recite with less visual dependence and correct mistakes immediately.
- Hide the Mushaf and recite independently.
Count repetitions only if the count helps
A counter can help you avoid stopping after only a few easy repetitions, but quality matters more than the number. Slow down when errors appear rather than racing to complete a target.
Connect before you finish
After individual ayat feel stable, recite them together. Many memorization mistakes happen at transitions, so connection practice is essential before the new portion is considered complete.
